Lampshade Workshop in Alpharetta August 9th

Be inspired to create new lampshades for all your lamps at home and gain a new skill whilst having fun!

This workshop is suitable for all skill levels. Choose to create a standard drum orientation shade (12" width), with your own fabric.

FAQ's

What do I need to bring?

As a general rule 1/2 yard should be sufficient.

What type of fabric should I choose?

Type – Cotton, linen, cotton drill, polyester cotton. They tend to “behave” well during the making process.

Weight – Light to medium weight is best. Heavier fabrics don’t let as much light through and they tend to be stiffer, so harder to work with.

Weave – Tight weave is better than a loose weave. Loose weave fabrics tend to fray more and they don’t hold their form well.

Fabric to avoid:

1. Really lightweight satins and silks
2. Heavy upholstery fabric
3. Fabrics that have voids, or are holey

Design:

1. Fabric with a strong grid design, i.e. vertical and/or horizontal lines are best suited for drum shades. If using this type of fabric on an empire shade be aware that the grid will slope away from vertical the further round the shade it travels.
2. Fabric without a strong grid eg. florals and abstract designs are perfect!
3. Fabric with a large design is not always suitable for small shades.

Should I bring my own snacks?

We will have a selection of refreshments included in your ticket. However if you have certain dietry requirements feel free to bring your own snack.

Do I need to be crafty or have experience?

No prior experience is necessary and is even suitable for ones 13+. We use the same techniques that the professional lampshade makers use . . . no sewing, no glueing!

Refund Policy?

Refunds are available up to 2 days before the event. Ticket is transferable to another person on the same workshop date. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any other questions or concerns.
